Ingredients
  

  • Base / Bread:
  • 4 slices thick-cut white or sourdough bread
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • Filling / Cheese:
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Optional: 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Optional: Pinch of black pepper or smoked paprika
  • Topping / Extras:
  • Sliced tomatoes caramelized onions, or fresh herbs (optional)

Method
 

  1. Butter the bread evenly.
  2. Layer cheese and toppings; cover with buttered bread.
  3. Cook in skillet over medium heat until golden and bubbling.
  4. Flip carefully; cook until cheese melts.
  5. Rest 1–2 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

  • Store in the fridge up to 2 days; freeze up to 1 month.
  • Avoid overbaking to keep the crust perfect.
  • Mix cheeses for desired melt and flavor.
