Ingredients
  

  • Base
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • Filling
  • 1 can 28 oz / 800 g crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Topping
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons parsley

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan and cook the onion until soft.
  2. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes and seasonings, then simmer until slightly thickened.
  4. In another pan, warm butter and cream to create the creamy sauce.
  5. Add Parmesan cheese and stir until smooth.
  6. Combine sauce with cooked pasta and garnish with parsley.

Notes

  • Store sauce in the refrigerator up to 4 days.
  • Freeze tomato sauce for up to 3 months.
  • Add pasta water to thin the sauce if needed.
  • Fresh herbs improve flavor significantly.
