Ingredients
  

  • Base
  • 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Filling / Aromatics
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ginger grated
  • 4 green onions sliced
  • Sauce
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes optional

Method
 

  1. Slice flank steak thinly against the grain and coat with cornstarch.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet and cook the beef until browned on the edges.
  3. Add garlic and ginger and cook until fragrant.
  4. Pour in soy sauce, water, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil.
  5. Stir until the sauce thickens and coats the beef. Add green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly for tender results.
  • Cook beef in batches for better browning.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Add vegetables like broccoli or peppers if desired.
