Ingredients
  

  • Base
  • 300 g penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Filling
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup cooked chicken or vegetables
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes
  • Topping
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon parsley

Method
 

  1. Cook pasta in salted boiling water until slightly firm.
  2. Mix marinara sauce, cream, garlic, and seasonings.
  3. Combine pasta, chicken/vegetables, and cheeses with the sauce.
  4. Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish.
  5. Add topping ingredients evenly over the pasta.
  6. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Slightly undercook pasta before baking.
  • Freshly shredded cheese melts better.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Swap chicken with vegetables for a vegetarian version.
